MEDIA: EU COMPETITION OPENS ALSO FOR BALKANS AND TURKEY NAPLES (ANSAmed) -19.11.2007- Young journalists from the western Balkans and Turkey are now ready to enter Europe. A feasible "entrance" thanks to a pan-European competition launched by the Directorate General for Enlargement of the European Commission, in collaboration with the European Youth Press association, aimed at encouraging the youth to think and express their points of view on EU enlargement policy.As announced in a statement released by the organisation committee, the young journalists, aged from 17 to 27, from the EU countries, the candidate countries and the potential candidates (the western Balkans and Turkey) are invited to present in the competition's programme a recently published article on EU enlargement, with publication date in the period from January 2007 to March 2008.Next April, national juries, comprised of media representatives, will select a winner article for each participating country. The 35 awarded journalists will be invited to become a part of a joint journey through the Balkan countries and will be given the opportunity to participate in a closing conference along with the media representatives from the various countries in June 2008.
