Macedonia has had a good year, making significant reform progress that speed up the economic growth and put the country among the world's top reformers, said outgoing and incoming World Bank Country Director and Southeast Europe Regional Coordinator, Orsalia Kalantzopoulos and Jane Armitage, after meeting President Branko Crvenkovski on Thursday. - It may be early for impressions, but it is clear that Macedonia is on the right track. The situation has been rather improved for the last few years, particularly in 2007. You have had a very good year and I hope that the World Bank will keep supporting the Government, said Armitage, who will take the office on January 1 next year. Macedonia has made significant progress in fiscal management and inflation control, Kalantzopoulos said. - Hard reforms, imposed by the international financial institutions, are finally giving results. I think that the Government should stick to this course. Some reforms are not going to be easy, but you have political potential and courage to move on, she added.
