At the discussion panel in Vienna, called “Austria and Southeast Europe – Future of Business”, Austrian Federal Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer said that SEE region was developing well, with economic growth on a constant rise. He also underlined Croatia as an example for other countries in the region. Croatia is ranked third by Austrian foreign direct investments, after the Czech Republic and Hungary. Austrian-Croatia trade rose by 2.1 percent and Croatia is a “successful story” of our mutual work and cooperation, said the Austrian Chancellor, adding that Croatia has accomplished a lot on its path towards the European Union. He is certain it will be the first to join the EU, but stresses that all other west Balkans countries need to have European perspectives. Slovenian minister of development Ziga Turk agreed and said that the EU could not be complete without these countries.
