Vibilia News Digest December 7, 2007
The first factory for recycling of electronic and electric equipment on Balkan was put in operation in Belgrade. Thanks to the new technology and the first facility for processing of electronic waste, the fastest growing category of waste, the bulky waste will disappear from the storages and streets. The prices of goods made from recycled materials should also be by two thirds lower. The facility, located in Visnjicka Banja, was put in operation by Deputy Minister of Serbia (www.srbija.sr.gov.yu) Bozidar Djelic and Minister of Environmental Protection (www.ekoserb.sr.gov.yu) Sasa Dragin. The opening of this factory shows that Serbia, in spite of many problems, is making progress, emphasized Djelic. Three years ago, only three percent of waste in Serbia was recycled, while now Serbia recycles 10 • 22 %, said Djelic and added that waste was a resource which can bring significant income. He emphasized that 60 % of electronic waste in Europe had been recycled. Japan recycles as much as 90 % of its electronic waste, added Djelic.
