MACEDONIAN PM INVITES COMPANIES TO INVEST IN MACEDONIA

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 17.12.2007 - Macedonian PM Nikola Gruevski stated he was informed that 'Sisecam', a glass producer from Turkey, was interested in investment opportunities in Macedonia and noted that they always welcomed companies who wanted to make investments, on Monday. Turkish-Macedonian Business Council --operating under Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK)-- held a meeting in Istanbul on the occasion of
Macedonian PM Nikola Gruevski and Macedonian investment delegation's visit. Macedonian PM Kruevski and Rona Yircali, Chair of the DEIK board of executives held a joint press conference before the meeting where the
investment possibilities in Turkey and Macedonia will be discussed. Gruevski briefed the press on projects they implemented to enhance the investment climate in Macedonia and said they lowered the income tax to 10 percent and carried out projects to remove bureaucratic hurdles. "In areas of technology and industry we provide tax exemption for the first 10 years. In the following years it continues at the rate of 10
percent," said Gruevski who noted that the state also covered infrastructure costs. "We invite businessmen from Turkey who want to develop their business outside Turkey to invest in Macedonia." On the other hand Yircali, indicated that important infrastructure investments were underway in Macedonia and said Turkish contactors could play a major role in the process.
